Blue Pearl Crocus

The arrival of spring is marked by the first blooms of crocuses. In my garden, the Blue Pearl Crocuses are the first to emerge from the ground.

They start as blue buds peering above the newly thawed ground. They erupt just above their blanket of cedar mulch that were laid in the Fall that protected them from the blanket of snow. They were cozy in those winter days, huddled together, about 6 inches below the ground.
